How long is our new Prime Mister's tenure?

A couple of days after I wrote about our incapable Prime Minister Hatoyama, he announced his resignation.

His tenure was only 9 months. Japanese Prime Misters quit during their term. Their tenure is always very short. I don't think there is such a country of which leader change very often. It's impossible for Japan to secure international trust.

Now, we have new Prime Minister, Naoto Kan. He is very famous for his short temper character, but at least, he has support from the public more than Hatoyama.

However, the Democratic Party is going to conduct the presidential election in September. So his tenure might be only 3 months??

By the way, I looked up the word "tenure" in a dictionary and used it for the first time. I wonder if my usage of it is correct.

I read that since 1991, Japan had had 14 Prime Ministers, whereas the US had had 4 presidents and the UK 4 Prime Minsters! That doesn't seem too good to me :S

Are you ジャス from Lang-8? Thank you for visiting my blog!
Yes, 14 prime Ministers in the last 20 years. Even Japanese people can't remember who the Prime Minister was this time last year. (^o^)

(14 prime ministers in the last 20 years.)

There is no longevity for the prime minister of Japan. They have no control over their political fate. Just call it a part time job!

You got it Sand :) And, I think that was probably Aso Taro, so not remembering is maybe a good thing! ^_^;
