Noguchi... That's pity.

It was announced that Mizuki Noguchi who is a marathon runner won't show up the race due to injury.

According to the news, she said what she had done for the past 4 years was all for the Beijing Olympics. I feel very sorry. I can't say anything when I think about her feeling.

I was so looking forward to Noguchi running in the marathon, so this is a real disappointment for me. The other day, I did 42 km on my bike, and I realized at the end that that is the traditional marathon distance give or take.

On the bike it was hard enough, but wow, it must be so incredibly hard to run that!

42km... It's impossible for me, even if I ride my bike.
When I was a high school student, I walked 30km at an orientation or something. Just walking. But I never want to do that again. haha.

Not impossible, just hard at first. I was "dying" after 15 km the first couple of times I went out, but it gets easier. :-) Now, 30 km walking is tough I think because of the monotony. When I was 14 or 15 I hiked part of the Appalachian Trail for two weeks in Kentucky and Tennessee in the US, and we did a fair amount every day with nice scenery. But just walking down a road with cars would be pretty tsurai if you ask me. --R

There are many people who like walking, riding or running a long distance.
A friend of mine is such a person. She likes running and sometimes participates in races.
Both she and I were handball players and played together in high school. We carried out STRENOUS training every day. Sometimes our coach forced us to run 30km after such hard training.
But now that I think about it, the hard training wasn't so bad for my friend who like running. In fact, she might have enjoyed the training?
As for me, even now, when I go outside in a very hot summer day like today, I remember the hard training under the scorching sun, then feel sick. Haha.
